THE NUTCRACKER 
PRESENTED BY THE RUSSIAN STATE BALLET ACADEMY OF PERM
 

The story of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s most famous and well-loved ballet is based on The Nutcracker and the King of Mice, written by E.T.A. Hoffmann. It tells the tale of Marie, her mysterious godfather Drosselmeyer and a toy nutcracker who comes to life as the Nutcracker Prince, and invites Marie on a journey to the Sugar Plum Fairy's Land of Sweets. This fairy tale ballet is a wonderful event which the whole family can enjoy.

The Ballet Academy of Perm comprises 300 ballet dancers from all over Russia. Many of them have won awards in national and international competitions. The city itself boasts a long tradition of music and ballet - a first-class ballet company has been based here permanently since 1820. The training and work at the Academy are decisively influenced by the works of Tchaikovsky and by Serge Diaghlev, the genius of the Ballets Russes, who both lived in Perm.
